Education

Born May 13, 1945, Gianni Padlina has graduated in photography from the Kunstgewerbeschule, Zurich, Switzerland; and has a degree in film from the Centro Sperimentale del Cinema di Roma directed by Roberto Rossellini.

Professional experiences

He is the founder of MediaKey, SA Production and his work includes a vast array of advertising spots and institutional documentaries for a variety of large companies such as Fiat automaker, Coca Cola, Nestle, Mondadori, Rizzoli, Ringier, RAI, Fininvest, Telemontercarlo, Valtur, to name a few.

In 2000 he films and produces three documentaries reporting on the emancipation of women throughout the world entitled: “Women’s long way”.

Between 2001 and 2004 he realizes for the ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross) a documentary on the state of water issues in Iraq. During this same period he co-produces a series, together with DEZA (the Swiss Head Office for Development and Cooperation), documenting the Swiss Government’s intervention and humanitarian aid to the developing world.

In 2005 he realizes the docu-fiction “4 ½” depicting the lives of five physically disabled men afflicted by polio, who live on the streets of Goree, Senegal and who beg for a living.

In 2006 “4 ½” goes on to win first price at the Bratislava EKOTOPFILM festival and in the 2007 the Golden Award at the Aljazeera film festival in Doha, Qatar.
