Doctors for the Future

The Humanitarian Association IF launched the project “Doctors for the Future” in December 2025, an initiative aimed at supporting medical students from the public universities of Lomé and Kara who are facing economic difficulties and are at risk of dropping out of their studies.

The pilot phase currently supports 12 students between the fourth and seventh year, providing concrete assistance to cover the main expenses related to their university pathway and daily living. The goal is to enable them to complete their training and become qualified doctors serving the population.

In a context where the availability of healthcare personnel remains significantly limited, the project represents a strategic investment in strengthening the Togolese healthcare system.

A central element of the project is the commitment to give back to the community: once they have completed their studies, beneficiary doctors commit to dedicating at least 10% of their professional activity, on a voluntary basis, to actions of public interest, including providing care to vulnerable populations and engaging in prevention and health awareness activities.

“Doctors for the Future” aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, promoting access to education, reducing inequalities, and improving public health.

The project is made possible thanks to the support of a private donor and is developed with a long-term vision: to train new doctors every year and generate a concrete, sustainable, and circular impact within the community.
